Nutrisystem Review

I have tried plenty of diets and can say that most of them worked to some extent, while others were next to useless. That's not to say I don't agree you need a healthy diet not just to lose weight but also to stay healthy, because I certainly do. So I was wondering what all the fuss was about Nutrisystem and their diet food delivery plans for people with little time for working on their own diets.

Well, from what I can gather, this is a system that provides you with a month's worth of meals, three meals per day to cover the usual breakfast, lunch and dinnertime meals. Okay, so far so good. They replace your regular food, so the costs actually balances out quite well when you compare it to what you'd normally spend on that amount of meals. The meals themselves are supposed to be balanced, low calorie and contain low GI carbs along with the required ratio of proteins, fats and dietary fiber.

From a convenience standpoint, they go straight into your freezer upon receipt of delivery, and from there straight into the microwave as and when you need them. Sounds very convenient indeed!

So the idea is, you eat these meals in place of your usual ones and you lose weight. Great! I like the sound of that.

So does it work in practise?

Well, here's the thing. If you're overweight, you are probably used to eating big meals. That goes without saying. So when you put one of Nutrisystem's meals on the table, it looks small by comparison. Oh dear! Here is a home truth about to hit you squarely in the face. You have to start eating less if you really want to lose weight and these meals certainly do that!

Another problem is the switch from junk food to healthy food. Your digestive system is in for a culture shock (its actually going to have to digest this stuff) and the end result is flatulence (or gas if you like to call it that). It doesn't last too long and settles down once your body gets adjusted to real food again, as opposed to the processed junk that was keeping it fed with fat before.

What are the recommendations?

Well, you are allowed to pad out the meals with the addition of some fresh vegetables because they don't add any extra calories or fat to the meals, although you probably wouldn't fancy adding cabbage to your breakfast!

You are also encouraged to do some exercise to help boost your metabolism further so the weight loss is more pronounced and visible. This makes a lot of sense because you need to be burning off the excess calories as well as the stored up fat that your body is carrying around with it.

Conclusion?

Cheat and eat potato chips ad cookies in between meals and you will not lose weight, but then you would be wasting your time and your money if you were going to do something as stupid as that anyway. Do what they say and stick to it without cheating and you will lose weight. Simple as that!
